This course provides a comprehensive introduction to harm reduction through a peer support lens. Designed for peer support professionals, youth advocates, and recovery community members, it explores how harm reduction serves as a legitimate and effective pathway to recovery.
Participants will learn the core principles of harm reduction, including respect, autonomy, and meeting individuals where they are. The course covers practical strategies such as overdose response, Naloxone use, fentanyl testing, and real-world applications in peer work.
In addition, this training equips learners with communication tools to support youth and families through honest, stigma-free conversations. Emphasis is placed on building trust, reducing harm, and strengthening recovery capital through compassionate, nonjudgmental engagement.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to confidently apply harm reduction strategies, communicate effectively about substance use and safety, and support individuals on diverse recovery pathways.
